“From the American Masters Series, this outstanding documentary on Richard Avedon was originally aired in 1995. It’s an intimate, hour-and-a-half long journey into the mind of one of the most important photographers of the 20th century.”
An obituary published in The New York Times said that “his fashion and portrait photographs helped define America’s image of style, beauty and culture for the last half-century”.
This documentary is such an inspiration and Richard Avedon is a true photography genius. It makes you think and examine yourself as an artist. The found image couldn’t satisfy Avedon. He wanted to be a creator, not an observer. He nurtured the things most people discarded and he brought the story to fashion.
It is a must see movie. I can’t highly recommend it.
