As much as I love being behind the camera, sometimes I have to step in front of it as well. I had to create a couple personal portraits to feature on my updated “about me page”. It is important to have a good representation online and give potential clients an idea who you are prior to meeting in person.

So how did I do it? I used one small flash with a beauty dish modifier on camera left and handed the camera to my husband. He did a great job taking a number of pictures for me to choose from.

Lessons learned from this session:

– Hair always gets in the way
– Funny faces in my head are not exactly funny on camera
– It is a good experience to understand how your clients feel in front of the camera
